PATCHWORK OF JAISALMER
The Bhils settled around
Jaisalmer practise the
traditional craft of
patchwork.
Small pieces of waste
fabric is stitched together
to make brightly colored
bed covers and floor
coverings called the ‘ralli’.
The pieces are cut into
exact geometric shapes
and then joined together
accurately by running
stitch. It is sometimes
lined with waste fabric
and quilted with running
stitch to make baby quilts
and bed covers.
