







EXTRA WEFT WEAVING
The traditional technique
of weaving in the
Jaisalmer /Jodhpur region
of western Rajasthan is
extra weft ornamentation
and is done on pit loom.
The extra weft technique
involves physically
lifting warp yarns with
fingers to insert extra
weft and create motifs.
Traditionally pattu, shawl
for bridegrooms were
woven and now a range of
products in contemporary
styles produced to cater to
a wide customer base.
Similar technique is also
used in Assam using a
bamboo frame loom.
